Post-Operative Clients
Clients recovering from surgery deserve more than discharge paperwork and a follow-up appointment in two weeks. WholeHealth Concierge provides discreet, organized, nurse-led recovery support that protects the surgical investment and the recovery experience.
Quality recovery is a clinical outcome, not a hotel stay.
Whether the procedure is cosmetic, orthopedic, cardiothoracic, or oncologic, the quality of post-surgical recovery affects healing time, complication rates, scar quality, function restoration, and overall outcome satisfaction. A 2023 review in the British Medical Journal found that the strongest predictor of post-surgical satisfaction was the quality of the first two weeks of at-home recovery.
Many surgical practices, particularly in cosmetic and elective surgery, partner with private nursing services because their patients want recovery that matches the level of care they paid for at the procedure itself.
The full arc, before and after surgery.
Engagements typically cover:
- Pre-surgical planning. Home preparation, supplies, medication setup, and coordination with the surgical team
- Discharge coordination. Pickup from the surgical center, communication with the surgeon, immediate clinical handoff
- Acute recovery phase. Wound monitoring, drain management, pain control oversight, ambulation, DVT prevention, infection surveillance
- Recovery progression. Activity progression, follow-up appointment coordination, removal of drains or sutures, and graduated return to function
- Family communication. Structured updates so family members understand how recovery is progressing
For cosmetic clients, discretion is built into every layer of the engagement. Nurses can be brought into hotels, private residences, or remote locations as needed.
Where private nurse-led recovery is most valuable.
- Cosmetic and aesthetic surgery. Facial procedures, body contouring, breast surgery, mommy makeovers
- Orthopedic surgery. Joint replacement, spinal fusion, sports medicine, post-trauma reconstruction
- Cardiothoracic surgery. Bypass, valve, and interventional procedures
- Abdominal and GI surgery. Bowel resection, hernia, weight loss surgery
- Cancer-related surgery. Oncologic procedures requiring drain management and oncology team coordination
- Outpatient elective procedures. Same-day discharge surgeries where home support is needed but not provided

Researched. Factual. From the field.
Direct answers grounded in current healthcare practice and research.
Can you support recovery from cosmetic surgery in a private residence or hotel?
Yes. Many cosmetic surgery clients prefer to recover in a private setting rather than a rehabilitation facility. We coordinate nurses who travel to private residences, hotels, or short-term rentals throughout Orange County, LA, Riverside, and San Bernardino.
Will you communicate directly with my surgeon?
Yes, with your written consent. Direct surgeon communication is one of the highest-value parts of post-operative coordination. It allows the nurse on the ground to align on wound care, medication adjustments, and red flags to watch for.
How long does post-operative support typically last?
Cosmetic recovery: usually 5 to 10 days of intensive nursing, then a step-down period. Orthopedic recovery: 2 to 6 weeks depending on procedure. Complex cardiac or cancer-related surgery: longer with stepped-down support. Every engagement is built around the specific procedure and surgeon protocol.
Are post-operative services HIPAA compliant?
Yes. All client information is treated as protected health information. Our nurses operate under standard healthcare privacy practices and all communications are handled with the discretion appropriate to medical care.
What if a complication develops during recovery?
Our nurses are trained to recognize early signs of post-surgical complications including infection, bleeding, DVT, and hematoma. Concerns are immediately escalated to the surgeon. If urgent care is needed, we coordinate the appropriate emergency response and inform the family in real time.
