Nelson survived a serious motorcycle accident in January 2024 and spent more than two years in recovery afterward. Our team at WholeHealth Concierge came into his story toward the end of that journey, helping coordinate his care and advocate for what he needed during a difficult stretch. On August 8, 2026, Nelson passed away.
Anyone who knew Nelson describes him the same way: charismatic, selfless, hardworking, and completely devoted to his family. Throughout his recovery, his son Mark, then in his early twenties, became one of his strongest advocates, sitting through appointments, asking the hard questions, and pushing for every possible chance at getting his dad home.
Behind every decision was a son who simply wanted to give his father every chance he could.
What Mark is carrying now
Mark is 24. Since his father's death, he has held his family together almost entirely on his own. He works full time, he is pursuing his own education, and he still shows up for his sisters, his nephews, and his grandparents, covering food, the mortgage, and everything in between. He is doing all of this while grieving his father, on top of funeral costs and medical expenses left over from Nelson's long recovery.
We sat down with Mark to let him tell this in his own words. It's a longer conversation, not a highlight reel, because we wanted his story told the way he actually experienced it.

We started a fundraiser to help Mark with his schooling and to ease some of the financial weight he has been carrying since his father's death. Every dollar goes directly to Mark and his family, for funeral costs and the medical expenses still outstanding from Nelson's recovery.
