Nelson passed away on August 8, 2026, after a serious accident in January 2024 changed everything for his family. Mark tells that story in the video below.
Anyone who knew Nelson describes him the same way: charismatic, selfless, hardworking, and completely devoted to his family. Through everything that followed, his son Mark, then in his early twenties, never stopped showing up for his dad.
Behind everything was a son who simply wanted to give his father every chance he could.
What Mark is carrying now
Mark is 24. Since his father's death, he has held his family together almost entirely on his own. He works full time, he is pursuing his own education, and he still shows up for his sisters, his nephews, and his grandparents, covering food, the mortgage, and everything in between. He is doing all of this while grieving his father, on top of funeral costs and the bills his family is still facing.
We sat down with Mark to let him tell this in his own words. It's a longer conversation, not a highlight reel, because we wanted his story told the way he actually experienced it.
